What gives you a reason to get up in the morning?

💭 How to Think About This

The Japanese concept of IKIGAI (生き甲斐) means "reason for being." It's found at the intersection of four things: what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. When all four align, you've found something powerful.

🔒 Start writing to unlock hints

Imagine four overlapping circles:
• What you LOVE (passion)
• What you're GOOD AT (skill)
• What the world NEEDS (mission)
• What you can be PAID FOR (profession)
Ikigai lives where all four overlap!

Love + Good at = PASSION (but may lack income/impact)
Good at + Paid for = PROFESSION (but may lack meaning/joy)
Paid for + World needs = VOCATION (but may lack joy/skill)
World needs + Love = MISSION (but may lack skill/income)

Few people start with perfect ikigai alignment. It's developed over time: discovering what you love, building skills, finding what the world will pay for, connecting to larger purpose. Each can grow and shift.

• Experiment with many things early
• Notice when time flies (passion clue)
• Get feedback on your skills
• Look for real problems in the world
• Test income possibilities
• Be patient—it's a lifelong discovery

Ikigai is the sweet spot where passion, skill, need, and income all meet!

Key insight: You don't have to find perfect ikigai today. The four circles can grow and shift. Start anywhere—following curiosity, building skills, noticing problems, exploring possibilities. The intersection reveals itself over time.
