Every argument has two parts: The Evidence (Premise) and the Verdict (Conclusion). Which one supports the other?

Identify the conclusion:

The word "Therefore" is a giant arrow. It points to the Conclusion. Other arrows: "Thus," "So," "Hence," "Consequently."

Imagine the speaker wants to convince you of exactly one thing. Are they trying to convince you that it's raining (look out the window)? Or that you shouldn't go to the picnic?

Correct. The Conclusion is the destination.

The Insight: Logic is architecture. The Conclusion is the roof. The Premises are the pillars. If you remove the pillars (Premises), the roof (Conclusion) falls.

The Strategy: Identify the conclusion first. Without knowing the main point, you can't evaluate the argument.
