What is a Project Architect?

A Project Architect oversees all phases of an architectural project, from initial design to construction administration. They manage a team of architects and consultants, ensuring that the project meets the client's needs, budget, and schedule. They are responsible for the technical accuracy and code compliance of the design.

A project architect spends days producing and updating drawings, specifications, and contract documents; meeting clients to review designs; coordinating engineers and specialists; and preparing final construction plans with aesthetic and build details. Between meetings you revise CAD models and cost information, and you conduct periodic site observations to confirm compliance. Much of the work is communication—email, phone, and face-to-face—so design output and coordination drive the schedule.
